Point
He stuck the pencil into the mechanical sharpener. The gratifying buzz of the machine churned in his ears as shook the box, wondering exactly how many more he'd have to sharpen before he felt satisfied.

Cubicles buzzed with the story, dozens of keyboards hammering out the limited facts, trying to make sense of the thing. Staring down at his unfinished column, Cliff wondered how many others would be forced to produce something, anything based on ten seconds of undeniable videotape and redneck word of mouth.

The box came apart almost too quickly, like the plastic tape had suddenly given up on withholding the contents from us any longer. A short mess of styrofoam peanuts later, all that survived our fury of anticipation was a small, wooden frame and the photo of a woman we'd never known.

The Fork
Edward picked apart the miniscule twines carefully, not wanting to destroy the delicate electronics that lay within. The nub was the size and the shape of a standard house fly, and yet, if one looked closer, it had the angles and edges of something much less organic.
